minsterworth photographic club

The Club will fully reopen on the 3rd and 4th Monday of each month from 7.30 - 9.30pm, until the end of April.

From May to September, we will be out and about once a month, visiting photographically pleasing venues, where the more experienced members of the club will be on-hand to provide mentoring on using your camera in different surroundings.

From October, we will be returning to the Village Hall in Minsterworth for more talks, competitions and studio sessions.

The dates and times for our summer photography outings are as follows –

Monday 23rd - Gloucester Cathedral and Surrounds.  Meet by the main entrance at 7.00pm. If you wish to get there sooner, the Cathedral closes, at I believe 6pm, but we can use the Cathedral precinct and surrounding streets to take external shots.

Monday 27th June - Alison Raeburn’s Garden.  (Minsterworth Court, Church Lane, Minsterworth.) Meet at 6.45pm at the village hall car park - it's a short walk from there.  Alison will welcome our Photography group to her stunning garden in Minsterworth.  For those who visited in 2019, the garden has undergone quite a few changes, so there will be various new photo opportunities. Beautiful views and lovely flowers!

Monday 18th July - An evening walk along the river Severn.  Meet at St. Peters Church Car Park, Church Lane at 7pm for a short walk along the riverbank. (If you don't know where the car park is, turn into Church Lane, just beyond the village hall - well signposted from either direction! The car park is opposite the church, a short way down Church Lane.)

Thursday 11th August – Westbury Court Garden.    Meet atWestbury Court Garden at 11a.m.  There is limited free parking 300 yards up the main drive.  A Dutch water garden laid out between 1696 and 1705.  This is the only restored Dutch style water garden in the country. Visitors can explore canals, clipped hedges and working 17th century vegetable plots.  Free entry for National Trust Members; £8 for non-members.  PLEASE NOTE Westbury Court Garden is only able to accept cash.

Saturday 17th September – Purton Hulks.  Meet in Purton car park at 1.pm. (Please note, Purton is on the east side of the Severn, off the A38, south of Gloucester. The car park is adjacent to Purton Upper Swing bridge and opposite the church of St John the Evangelist.) Purton Ships' Graveyard has a number of abandoned boats and ships, deliberately beached beside the River Severn near Purton in Gloucestershire, to reinforce the riverbanks. Most were beached in the 1950s and are now in a state of considerable decay. A very picturesque location!

You are most welcome to join us!
